JUST DROPPED:  We teamed up with artist Ben Lenovitz to celebrate the mission and vision behind The Sato Project.

The Sato Project is dedicated to rescuing the abused and abandoned dogs of Puerto Rico. There are an estimated 650,000 stray dogs roaming the streets and beaches of Puerto Rico, an island the size of the state of Connecticut. The Sato Project aims to permanently disrupt the stray overpopulation crisis through rescue, rehabilitation, and mass spay/neuter/vaccination work.

As a result of their efforts, they've achieved the following...

  • 7,500+ dogs rescued and flown to new homes over 13 years of operation
  • 3,200+ dogs spayed/neutered/vaccinated/microchipped in the first year of their new mass spay/neuter/vaccination initiative, #OperationSato
  • 150K+ lbs of disaster relief supplies distributed across the island in the wake of hurricanes and earthquakes
  • 230+ dogs and cats reunited with their families in the mainland after disaster displacement through #NoDogLeftBehind.

50% of all profits from the Sato drop will be directly donated to The Sato Project and their rescue efforts.

About the drop

The Sato Project is dedicated to rescuing abused and abandoned dogs from Puerto Rico. There are currently an estimated 650,000 stray dogs roaming the island’s streets and beaches. The municipal shelter system is drastically overwhelmed, with only five shelters across all 78 of the island’s municipalities. For thousands of stray and abandoned dogs in the area in which we operate, The Sato Project is their only hope. Learn more about how you can get involved at thesatoproject.org/.

Ben Lenovitz holds residency as an in-house pet portrait artist at Fishs Eddy, the famous tableware store in NYC. Ben's painted thousands of pets over the past 5 years, where no two pet faces are the same. For more on Ben's work and his portfolio, visit his website.

About The Mutt Dog

At The Mutt Dog, our mission is to create avenues for dog lovers to help dogs find their furever homes. While we are not a rescue, our purpose is to be the link between the rescue ecosystem and dog lovers who want to make a difference. Whether it’s funds, awareness, or volunteer opportunities, we support the entire rescue ecosystem. Our ultimate goal is for the mutts of the world to find safe, happy homes where they are treated with kindness and love. For shelters, needing to raise awareness of events or adoptable dogs. For creators, who champion creative and storytelling. For brands, helping establish or evolve their impact story. And for dog-lovers, who want to live their commitment with a little tail-swagger.
