About the Collection

We teamed up with Dominican artist Monica Lapaz to capture the spunk and spirit of the island strays of the Turks and Caicos Islands, affectionately known as potcakes. One hundred percent of proceeds from this design will be donated to Potcake Place K9 Rescue. Every purchase helps fund critical veterinary care, spay and neuter programs, daily feeding efforts, and safe transitions from the streets to loving homes.

About Potcake Place Rescue

Since 2004, Potcake Place K9 Rescue has been giving the local strays of the Turks and Caicos Islands a second chance. Founded by Jane Moskowitz, the organization was created to provide consistent, compassionate care for the island’s stray dog population. The nickname “potcake” comes from the hardened rice and peas stuck to the bottoms of cooking pots that these dogs once relied on for food. Today, through foster care and adoption programs, Potcake Place is working to create a safer, brighter future for them.

The Mission

Turks & Caicos is in the middle of a growing stray dog crisis. Incredible rescues on the island like Potcake Place K9 Rescue are dedicated to the health & safety of these strays, feeding them, providing spay & neuter services, and ultimately finding them forever families. However, new CDC transport rules have abruptly shut down one of their primary adoption pipelines: transport to the U.S. Adoptions have slowed—and more dogs are being left behind. This March, Mutt Dog & Mutt fund are embarking on a mission to Turks & Caicos to volunteer and fly a handful of adoptable Potcakes to waiting rescues in the U.S.
